Difficult Conversations / Communication

Your Difficult Conversations Toolkit workshop was fantastic!!  So many things you said surprised me; I now know I handled so many situations incorrectly in the past.  Your challenge to ask ourselves during conversations: "if I am right, what does that make the other person?" was sooo enlightening! The experience that made me write this testimonial is that I just had a very challenging issue with a client, and instead of reacting immediately after receiving a very negative email, I followed your advice to first think about what I wanted the results of today's phone negotiation to be. I also followed your advice to repeat back some of what my client said, and I consistently insured she knew I heard her.  In addition, instead of making assumptions about her motives (or deciding I had enough information) I followed your advice to ask questions that would allow me to understand exactly what she wanted from me.  Through that process I was shocked to learn SHE had made a number of incorrect assumptions that we were able to easily clear up due to my new ability to not react angrily or based on fear.  Instead, I focused on staying calm and conversational, communicating clearly and succinctly in a healthy adult manner. The results of that difficult conversation were exactly what I hoped for, and would have been impossible if I had not followed your advice."  T.M. | Mortgage Broker | Nashville, TN
Linda Zuk has an amazing ability to coach someone who needs to initiate a challenging personal or business conversation. She is a GREAT listener, and no matter what you tell her, she remains compassionate and non-judgmental. Her advice on what to say and how to say it is invaluable. But more importantly, she provides sage wisdom regarding what NOT to say or do! Her advice on how to approach and conduct a challenging conversation is most valuable to insure all participants remain calm, in control, and that the conversation is non-combative. Linda instills a strong sense of confidence that you can approach a difficult, emotional, or high-stakes conversation armed with powerful verbal and emotional tools that will result in success."L.T. | Financial Planner | Chattanooga, Tn.
“It is obvious why you are the perfect person to be teaching about communications and relationships.”J.B.| Attorney | Atlanta, GA
I had a problem with a business partner.  The situation had reached a “boiling point” and I no longer knew how to handle the problem at hand, or even what direction to go in next.   I knew that Linda Zuk worked with people who need to communicate clearly, so I contacted her.  Linda’s wise suggestions, coupled with her warm and calm demeanor, enabled me to see the real problem I was facing more clearly.  I was now able to sift through the unimportant clutter of “non issues”.  Once that clarity was reached, I was able to move into a productive problem resolution and formulate a plan of action based on facts she helped me see.  In my situation a positive outcome was not possible, but Linda made the conversation easier to have.J.S., Insurance Broker – Marietta, GA.

Business Coaching & Facilitation

I have been struggling with bringing a business idea to fruition. I had pieces but couldn't figure out one key part. Linda did an amazing job of asking questions, actively listening, understanding what I was struggling with in a way I didn't recognize and then teaching me how to see it in myself. She "taught me to fish", creating an AH-HA! moment that was tremendously powerful and very insightful. I thought my issue was in one area and because of her skills as a business coach, Linda determined my issue was actually in a different area and once she opened my mind to that, everything fell in to place. This is a gift and a skill and I am very impressed with how she worked with me as well as how she taught me. Thank you Linda! I hope anyone reading this will seriously consider working with Linda - you'll be glad you do.”Sue Ryan | JSR Advisors | Atlanta, GA
Using her customized online assessment tool, Linda Zuk was able to gather the data we needed to move into our two day retreat. What was most remarkable is that it was almost completely driven by data my team provided. We were able to jump right in and begin the process. The data allowed staff to "see themselves" in the data and own the issues we addressed during our retreat. We had the time to look at issues that needed to be discussed and to create goals and an action plan that would move us forward during the next year and particularly during the next 90-days. I was very impressed with the rigorous data-gathering process, meeting facilitation, and follow up coaching. In addition, I found Linda to be extremely responsive to the organizational needs of our team. She was flexible and collaborative during the entire period of retreat planning, data gathering, and follow up coaching, insuring the unique challenges of our team were addressed in the process."Marsha L. Vanderford, PhD, Dir, | Emergency Communication System | Centers For Disease Control and Prevention | Atlanta, GA | 2007
I truly appreciate the holistic approach that Linda Zuk took in developing our newly constituted organization and team. She was sensitive to our needs in both content and context, and spent a considerable amount of time getting to know the individuals who make up this senior team and assessing the organization. By the end of the three-month engagement, we had not only collaborated on the development of a strong, inspiring mission and vision, but had begun to forge a synergistic organization with clear goals that is capable of taking on the challenges that face us daily. I would work with Linda Zuk again as our team considers our next strategic moves!”Donna Garland | Coordinator | Emergency Communication System | Centers for Disease Control and Prevention | Atlanta, GA | 2004

I have avoided developing my company's mission and vision for years, simply because I didn't know where to start. Linda has walked me through the process and it was so simple doing it with her. I have also set goals for the direction of my company (as I have done many times in the past). Working with Linda, I am actually working on those goals and moving toward some exciting results. Linda is gentle, yet firm in guiding me though these processes. She has invaluable insight and words of encouragement when I become frustrated & stuck.”Michelle Austell | Chaffins, Batdorf & Austell, CPA | Marietta, GA

“Linda provided a concise and articulate webinar to our group which focuses on supporting careers of women in technology, The Metis Movement. Linda's topic of "Building Great Relationships in Your Work and Personal Life" contained valuable insight to our members and created a large draw from our followers, resulting in the largest participation to date. Linda was well prepared and gave a very compelling presentation on what stops people from having effective relationships at home and in the office as well as providing tools to our audience to help them build more effective relationships. I would recommend Linda as a presenter/speaker for business groups, individuals, and companies.”Lynn Anderson, |Founder & Chief Talent Partner |The Metis Movement

Speaking Engagements

"Linda Zuk's talk on having a Difficult Conversation dove right into what holds us back from bringing up difficult topics (fear). She taught us how to identify and prepare for the outcome we want. She made it seem very "do-able." She offered real-life examples to illustrate her points. With situations provided by the audience, she demonstrated how to use her techniques. Her very practical handouts will serve as templates for difficult conversations beyond the presentation. Linda's style is warm and professional. If your organization needs a speaker on Communications who cuts to the chase and provides realistic solutions, Linda Zuk is an exceptional choice for you!"  Anita Hampl | ABWA:ELEN Express Networking | Alpharetta, GA
Thank you so much for your presentation this morning. I have heard nothing but positive response from many of the people who attended. You offered wonderful tips that will get people into action. I wish we’d had more time to tap into the knowledge that you have.  “Relationship, relationship, relationship” was a great way to end the program…people will remember that! I can’t thank you enough for today. You hit the nail on the head and dispensed important, quality information. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!”Judy Thomas | Temple Sinai | Atlanta, GA
Having Difficult Conversations” is a topic that hits home for everyone, and it’s easy to run away from and avoid.   Yet, we know that we can benefit from sound Coaching, which assists us in achieving a successful outcome when having these conversations. Linda Zuk’s presentation at The Women’s Professional Development Group in Norcross, GA, provided sound Coaching, and effective suggestions to help someone maneuver easily through those tough conversations, whether personally or professionally.  Each person walked away with a checklist and useful material that they can access and use over and over again.  Our audience was very pleased and knows that Linda Zuk is an on-going resource for them and their organizations.  I heard many “thank you’s” as people left our event, empowered and encouraged.”Marie Fratoni - International Facilitator, Norcross, GA
